Grande Montagne Mountain is the home to the famous Grande Montagne Natural Reserve, located in the central-eastern part of Rodrigues Island and is known for preserving the last remnant of Rodrigues’ endemic forests. The reserve is the home to endemic species of animals including the  Solitaire bird, the Rodrigues fruit bat, Warbler and the Giant Tortoise and plants like Rodrigues Aloe. The reserve is also open to the public for visits and also runs guided tours.
