Amarkantak is a town in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is located in the district of Anuppur and has a population of 8,416. It is also a pilgrimage destination which is muffled in the Satpura and Vindhya and Maikal mountain range which beautifies the area with their presence. Three rivers, namely Son River, Johila River and Narmada River emanate from Amarkantak. The word Amarkantak is a made by joining two words, Amar which means “immortal” and Kantaka which means “thorn”. The ancient temples of Kalachuri are also a must-visit place here.
