The town is situated on the western coast in the Western Province of Srilanka. It is known for the cultivation of rich palms and the production of Vinegar worldwide. It is the home to a few historical places such as the ancient catholic church. Previously it was named Veda doova, later name was changed to Wadduwa. Wadduwa is popular for the products made from coconut fiber such as brooms, carpets, etc.
