The agricultural village is located in the north of Jaffna city Srilanka. It is surrounded by several villages including Chunnakam, Kandarodai, Sanguveli, Manipay, Suthumalai, and Inuvil. Uduvil is a composite word derived from the Tamil. The village is the home to famous Uduvil Amman Temple's houses stone image of Kannaki is placed in front of the Kody sthambam. The village celebrates the annual 11 days festival of the Amman temple on the day of Chitra paruvam.
