Digboi is a town in the Indian state of Assam. It has a population of 20,405 and Assamese is the official language here. “Dig-boy-Dig”- A popular English phrase from where DIgboi got its name. When crude oil was accidentally discovered here an English engineer shouted this name which led to the city being called with the name “Diboi”. It is India’s oldest oilfield and even has a refinery which was built in the year 1901.
